I did install 15.2.4 Studio and same audio issue. Contact BD Support, which went up a tier, then onto the development team. Support reported back that others have had similar audio issues and they think that have a fix for the next update. Today, I download and installed 15.3, which fixed my issue. AAC audio clear as a bell again.

Hi Bruce, I cannot really help, as your method #1 is what I use and it works for me. I’m on 15.2.3, as I have an audio issue with 15.2.4, so went back to 15.2.3.

Also Lisa, are you on the latest build of Vegas Pro 15, which is build 416. Go Help > About and the build number is listed there.

Often when we have a problem with color or quality bring different than the source it is our GPU, that Is why I asked if you would change it to ‘OFF’ or any other setting. A problem with the GPU, that has in the past worked fine is often caused by the driver being updated and for whatever reason Vegas doesn’t like it. If your Windows OS updated the GPU driver behind your back, you may need to roll back to an earlier driver version to see if that makes any change.

I’ll wait to see if any of the suggest make a difference before exploring further.

Hi Francois, are you having a bad day? The file sample she uploaded is variabe bit rate, but noting wrong with that. I think you meant variable frame rate. Her sample is constant frame rate, so no problem with that.

Lisa, I have no problem with your sample file, same colors in Vegas Pro 15 as in VLC viewer. I think your source media is solid, so we need to consider something else.

Are you matching media in your Project? Have you ever done a full reset of Vegas? If not you may want to try this. Hold down the ‘Ctrl+Shift’ keys and double left click the the Vegas Pro desktop shortcut. When the window pops-up, check the box ‘Delete all cached application data’, then left click on ‘Yes’. This will reset Vegas Pro 13 to it’s original installation settings and delete all the pesky cached application data that builds up and sometimes causes Vegas to do strange things.

Can you post a screenshot of your Project settings?

If you go into Preferences, then the Video tab, then check what is in the GPU acceleration of video processing:? What ever it is set (write it down), then change it to the other option. Close Vegas, start it and load the problem source media. If there is no improvement, change it back to where it was. If there is more than two options (one of them being OFF), then like before try it and see what happens.

Thank You Ole, That is 1 fix. I was going to mention that, but I thought that whole thing with the so4 had been straighten out in VP16, it appears not.

Larry, if the so4 renaming down the line causes problems, Wayne Waag has developed a script app called Happy Otter Scripts, with a function called Import Assist, that will import these files and play clean in VP15/VP16.

Sorry I did not mention the so4 long before, but Thankfully Ole’y to the Rescue!!

I have good news and bad news!!

The Good, you are not going crazy (you knew that), and I’m not going crazy (I wasn’t sure of that)!!

The Bad, your sample does the same for me as it does for you.

Actually this may be good news, because we have now determined there is nothing in your system that is causing it, unless we beat the odds of probably a million to 1 that both our systems are screwed!

I’m thinking maybe this should be posted in the Vegas Creative Software Forums. I can do it if you prefer, but it would probably better if you do. What do you think about that?

Hi Larry, I didn’t think that would do you. Before you start messing around with the codec hack, can you record a short segment (not to large in size) and upload it to a sharing site that I can download it and duplicate your issue? Maybe it’s not Vegas 15/16, rahter something in your system. I have Vegas 13/14 trial and Vegas 15/16.

If that is the case, there is an easy fix. Go Option > and then while holding down the ‘Shift’ key, click on Preferences. This will expose the ‘Internal’ tab, top right, click on it. At the bottom search type in ‘Main’ that will bring up the ‘Enable Legacy Mainconcept’ change the ‘FALSE’ to ‘TRUE’, click on ‘Apply’ then ‘OK’ and you are all set. I don’t think you have to re-start Vegas, but maybe.
