problem with sony vegas pro 15 with the colours of my video
Posted by Lisa Van gemert on March 4, 2019 at 6:06 pmHey guys,
I am having a really weird problem with Sony Vegas pro 15. I import my vid and it comes out like this:

Like you can see the colours are gone and there are weird lines (in colour haha) drawn across the screen. I have never had this problem before, using the same show but this time another way to download the clip. The problem only occurs in Vegas, with After Effects and other programmes I don’t have the problem.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

Can you upload a small clip sample of your source media for others to try?

The uploaded file has a variable bit rate. Most NLE don’t like that type of files. How did you record this file or where did it come from. Is there any way of acquiring the file at a constant bit rate ?
Cheers !

March 4, 2019 at 7:32 pmI downloaded it from the site of the company – Roosterteeth – using Chrome’s Video Download Helper.
I could try downloading it again but as another type of file, will try if that helps

When you get the file, run it thru Handbrake so that you have a constant bit rate file and let us know how it goes.

March 5, 2019 at 12:30 amHi Francois, are you having a bad day? The file sample she uploaded is variabe bit rate, but noting wrong with that. I think you meant variable frame rate. Her sample is constant frame rate, so no problem with that.
Lisa, I have no problem with your sample file, same colors in Vegas Pro 15 as in VLC viewer. I think your source media is solid, so we need to consider something else.
Are you matching media in your Project? Have you ever done a full reset of Vegas? If not you may want to try this. Hold down the ‘Ctrl+Shift’ keys and double left click the the Vegas Pro desktop shortcut. When the window pops-up, check the box ‘Delete all cached application data’, then left click on ‘Yes’. This will reset Vegas Pro 13 to it’s original installation settings and delete all the pesky cached application data that builds up and sometimes causes Vegas to do strange things.
Can you post a screenshot of your Project settings?
If you go into Preferences, then the Video tab, then check what is in the GPU acceleration of video processing:? What ever it is set (write it down), then change it to the other option. Close Vegas, start it and load the problem source media. If there is no improvement, change it back to where it was. If there is more than two options (one of them being OFF), then like before try it and see what happens.

March 5, 2019 at 12:50 amAlso Lisa, are you on the latest build of Vegas Pro 15, which is build 416. Go Help > About and the build number is listed there.
Often when we have a problem with color or quality bring different than the source it is our GPU, that Is why I asked if you would change it to ‘OFF’ or any other setting. A problem with the GPU, that has in the past worked fine is often caused by the driver being updated and for whatever reason Vegas doesn’t like it. If your Windows OS updated the GPU driver behind your back, you may need to roll back to an earlier driver version to see if that makes any change.
I’ll wait to see if any of the suggest make a difference before exploring further.

March 25, 2019 at 5:26 pmHey George!
I had my GPU on the setting ‘OFF’ and changing it ‘Intel’ unfortunately doesn’t solve the problem.
I am not on the latest buildnumber, I have 117, thank you for your help!

March 26, 2019 at 12:21 amHi Lisa,
How about these other suggestions, have they made any difference?
Are you matching media in your Project? Have you ever done a full reset of Vegas? If not you may want to try this. Hold down the ‘Ctrl+Shift’ keys and double left click the the Vegas Pro desktop shortcut. When the window pops-up, check the box ‘Delete all cached application data’, then left click on ‘Yes’. This will reset Vegas Pro 13 to it’s original installation settings and delete all the pesky cached application data that builds up and sometimes causes Vegas to do strange things.
Remember even when you update to the latest build, installing this will not take care of a full reset, so I would try the full reset.
Can you post a screenshot of your Project settings?
If none of this helps, you may want to consider rolling back your GPU driver to a previous version, or if there is an update available, install it, or both of these.
Best Regards……George
