Is there any difference between the DeckLink HD Extreme 3D & DeckLink HD Extreme 3D+ or is this the same card?

I have had to do this a few times for delivery (to D5, not HDCAM SR). It cannot be done from FCP timeline even with a hardware encoder between FCP and the HDCAM SR deck. The main reason is because the audio has to be offset 32ms to compensate for the Dolby decode. I do not think there is a way to move audio a specific number of ms in FCP. If you could, then you could rent a Dolby AC-3 Encoder & Decoder for your layback. I ended up doing it in ProTools and using Dolby plug-ins instead of renting Dolby hardware.

That is great to hear!!! I have had extremely frustrating experiences with edit to tape accuracy outputting to D-5 at my studio. I just worked at a different studio last week with the same setup as mine and they have the same problem with D-5 laybacks. I was happy that it wasn’t just my system but sad that it was a known issue. Anyway, I’m relieved that this issue was addressed.

I wonder if we will be able to capture 1080i/60 with the IO HD on a Quad G5. Maybe the PreRes chip in the IO HD can offset the lack of processing power.

Here is my wish list:
1. Clips with filters have some type of indication on the timeline
2. Easy way to delete unused rendered media
3. Turn video tracks off and on without losing renders
4. Rendered layers on a timeine shoudl be treated as a single layer so that if you add an additonal layer on top,
FCP should view it as 2 layers in regard to whether it is realtime or not. I work primarirly with uncompressed HD.
I typicaly have to output clean and bugged versions of my shows. When I finish color correcting and rendering a show,
I have to export the show as a quicktime time reference, import it on a new timeline and add the static bug so that I do
do not have to re-render the entire show.George Bellias

If you have Mojo and change the project format from 1080i HDV to 30i, the Mojo will do a realtime downconvert and output the HDV signal out of the Mojo as a SD signal which can be viewed on any SD monitor while you edit. Of course, you will have to change the format back to 1080i HDV if you want to digitize any additional footage.
There is no way to preview true HDV (that I know of) as you edit.
