Stewart,
Before you try any codec pack take an image of your system disc.
OK a restore point will help, but an image is always a failsafe. If things really go wrong you are up and running in around 20 minutes or so.Please let us know how you get on with the codec pack.

No edit button these days!!
Connect GH3 to computer via USB
Within Vegas file->import->media This should locate media on SD card. Select files to import and hit import. Vegas knows which files are spanned (greater than 4Gb plus next). The media clips will be in the ‘imported media’ folder. Once imported the GH3 can be disconnected. The necessary clips are on the HD.

Working with a GH2 the files( .mts ) need to copied to the hard disc. Spanned files larger than 4Gb limit of FAT32 need to be joined. This can be achieved in two ways.
1) Use ‘run’ CMD and then join the files with copy
Copy /B file1.mts+file2.mts+file3.mts joinedfile.mtsOr
2) Copy the whole private folder to your hard drive and bring into vegas the usual way.
Vegas should join your files correctly.Works for .mts files not tried with .mov but it should work
I tend to use method 1 but then I grew up on DOS.

Your project VP is set to 8 bit. You later show a codec as 4:2:2 which may well be 10 bit. Just a chance this is the problem.
Might well be setting VP to 10 bit and trying a short test.

Our PAL players handle NTSC & PAL. No need for further work.Your problems come supplying PAL DVD’s to NTSC land. Most players there will not handle PAL (historic reasons). You must supply NTSC into NTSC land.

We generally think i7 = 4 cores.
Laptops often quote i5 or i7 processers but reading specs often show just 1 or 2 cores not the expected 4. Just been through the sony shop looking at laptops with i7 processers. All have just 2.Toshiba i5 had just 1

Just a long shot. PluralEyes comes as a standalone as well as plugin. Maybe the standalone version would work. I’ve tried a short piece shot with A1E Vid+Audio with independant picked up using a Zoom. Just followed a tutorial and it worked fine. Not tried it from the timeline yet.

Used within VP11 and testing with ‘auto contrast’ I found VP11 crashed on closing. Two pc’s running 44 bit & 32bit respectively.
VP12 same test and VP closed out correctly.
Likewise used within Edius 6v5 no problems.
There is only a licence for 1 machine but at least the FX can be deactivated and transferred to a 2nd pc. No complaint it was for free and aimed specifically at Avid.
Looks like a little more work is required for a similar Vegas release.

Noise reduction shows up as an FX and appearance is similar to the same FX in SoundForge. NR works in SF but not in VP12.
Exactly how does one perform NR within VP12
