Hi Dennis,

Thanks for responding! Been doing some more reading and it seems the Geforce is the way to go and according some tests seems to work better with Premiere (even though Quadro does seem to be recommended on the site)

Thanks Victor! The other decision I’m having trouble with the switch over is what codec to switch to.

We’ve been in Apple Pro Res for a couple of years now and I know PrP can support it, but since I’m moving away from apple (and who knows what apple will do next with the codec!) I was wondering what codec people are using with PC’s.

Hi Nei, thanks for responding. Proreshq was definitely a first choice, but since then I’ve done some more research and found that photojpeg is actually scalar. here is a link with some more info https://codecs.onerivermedia.com/encodes/422com.htm would be interested to hear your take on this. Thanks Gary. That does help, knowing there is no one perfect answer.

Just wanted to know in your opinion which is a smarter choice for future transcoding etc.

Hi,

Almost in exactly the same shoes as Mark.

35 years worth of footage in all sorts of formats which we are now going to digitise and load onto an Editshare system.

I agree that codecs like Apple Prores are great options but we’re at the mercy of the creators.

So coming from tape what codec would you suggest? I keep reading Photo Jpeg and DVCPro50 are optins worth looking at.
