What effect are you wanting to achieve with the pan envelope? If you want it to behave more like the balance control on an amplifier, right-click the pan control in the track header and choose Constant Power.

It would be hard to come up why going to school would be a bad thing (except for time and money). It is alwyas good to acuire new skills as well as connections. Internships are a good example.

As far as actually working as a videographer: none of my clients has ever asked to see my “certificate” 🙂

I assume from your choice of cameras that you will be shooting in SD and not HDV?

Vegas can convert between NTSC and PAL with no problem. If you are doing a significant amount of work for European consumption, a PAL camera would be a good choice since NTSC converted from PAL looks better than the other way around.

When you capture your footage, the system and frame rate are automatically detected and do not have to be set.

If you are producing DVDs for both markets, then NTSC is the better bet, as European DVD players and TVs generally handle NTSC OK, but egocentric Americans don’t create a market for DVD players that handle PAL.

BTW, if you hold down Alt/Up Arrow the timeline will stop zooming when it set to this state.
