What trim button are you referring to? I don’t think I have one.

Also, are you trimming an event that has velocity changes? That is where you really are going to get in trouble and would go a long way to eplain what is going on there.

On the botttom right of the optomize window are the default settings for video and audio. If you have the audio set to PCM, it’s going to recompress your AC-3.

I assume you mean that you are trimming the edge, not moving the event. If you go past the actual beginning of the media, it will loop and start showing you the end of the media. The loop point is indicatd by a triangular notch along the top edge of the event. Is that what’s happening?

You’re saying that the event (clip on the timeline) moves so that the new left edge (in point) lines up with where the old in point was?

Then, you have auto ripple mode turned on and it’s doing exactly what it’s supposed to.

Turn it off with its icon at the top of the interface, or hit Ctrl/L.

They are the audio waveform files, and are generated in the same directory as the media, so you must have your media on your destop as well.

If you are wanting to move sound to front left and right, just use a pan envelope. To turn on the surround sound controls, you change your project properties from stereo to surround.

To do a ripple effect, you can use water video combined with a custom composite mode.
