Your frame rate is dropping because the resolution is being converted on the fly. So if you monitor in the native rsolution with the hardware you mention, the CPU doesn’t have to work so hard.
Your best bet is to use the preview monitor, or get the 2nd monitor output working,and hook up to a high res computer monitor (which is a very good solution for working in HD).

The way you have to work with 3D track motion is opposite. Intead of moving the camera through a virtual environment, you have to move your virtual world past the camera.
One of the main concepts you need to master to achieve this is using parenting to move your layers in unison. For instance you can make a number of tracks children to an empty parent track. The plane of that track can be rotating, and thus whatever is happening to the child tracks happens within that rotating space.

It’s still a mystery to me what exactly you did to change the sync. Vegas does not present a problem in this regard.

Maybe I’m dense,, but what is in Edward’s explanation that you weren’t doing before?
BTW, the trim button, or using Ctrl/T is a fine shortcut for splitting, then deleting (as long as you’re careful with whatever may exist above and below).

.AVI is a specific file format. A .dat file has a non-specific file structure. Changing the name doesn’t make it an AVI.

Are you trimming according to the picons (little frames) on the event? Those are there just for reference and are not meant to representy an exact point in the media (except if you are zoomed in very close.
You have to go by what you see in the preview window. What it shows is what’s under the cursor ar any given time.
As for the trim button – COOL. I forgot all about that one.
