DVD Architect is re-optimizing my ac3 audio track
I rendered my video in vegas twice, once as .mpg2 with “DVDA NTSC video stream” template and once as .ac3 with the “default” template, as I have done in the past. However, now DVDA gives me a warning that the audio track will be recompressed. When I go to File>Optimize, it says the audio format is .ac3 stereo and I can’t change it.
What do I need to do to avoid re-compressing my audio track?

On the botttom right of the optomize window are the default settings for video and audio. If you have the audio set to PCM, it’s going to recompress your AC-3.

That’s what’s so puzzling, Gary. I do have the drop-down in the bottom right corner of the optimize window set to ac3 not PCM. I still get the recompress warning. Any thoughts?

Does your mpeg file contain audio (either using the CUSTOM button to render with audio, or perhaps using one of the other templates by mistake)?
Try going to the timeline for the Title, and replace the existing audio track with the AC3 audio track.

Thanks, but I have double checked all this. Fortunately, the double encoding doesn’t seem to have an audible effect on the audio track.

Okay…upon TRIPLE checking, I realized I had encoded as an “.aa3” rather than “.ac3”
problem solved! -
