XDCam also creates mpeg4 Proxy files. Conforming the finished edit to full res is a snap.

Oops, I was thinking this was for DVD.

I think you’ll just have to place your text events, then copy and paste into them.

You should capture using the Vegas internal capture so you are working with the native M2T (HDV) file.

The best bet for viewing on your PC in HD is wmv9 format.

Do a separate Mpeg2 and AC-3 for SD output for your DVD.

You computer may be overheating during render.

Create a .txt file.
Each line will create a new subtitle when you use the Import Subtitles button.

Then, you just have to tweak their positions to match the video.

AFAIK, you cannot render the clip and control the metadata to start the timecode where you want it.

The closest you might come is to print to tape starting with that timecode spot on the tape, then recapture it.

Add the timecode FX to the track header and move the beginning of your media along the track to correspond to the timecode you want it to start.
