Hello all… I have a slight problem, was hoping for some help. A friend shot some video on a Sony HVR-A1U for me, and is letting me borrow the cam to capture the footage in Vegas 7.0. I have set the camera to downconvert (using “letterbox” mode), to capture in SD.

He used various camera settings to shoot some of the clips (24p, 30i, 60i, etc.) but I’m assuming that doesn’t really matter if it’s all being downconverted.

My question is: if the footage has all been downconverted, what do I use as my project settings in Vegas, and do I need to change the media properties at all? I’d like to incorporate the footage with some I shot with a GL2 (in 16:9 mode), but the aspect ratios don’t seem to match up.

I hope this is enough info to get some answers. I’m a complete NOOB when it comes to HDV stuff.

    Thank you!

As a general rule, you set your project properties to match the most prevalent format of the media that makes up the project.
