Hi John,
I ended up using AJA io HD instead of the Kona3 and it worked. I now think I may have a Knoa3 problem? There is an intermiitent problem on SDI 1 out. I will look at the reference path you mentioned next week and see if that was also a problem.

Richard,
We still have a problem and maybe we should start a new thread? I got the FCP/Kona 3 and Digibeta working except the audio is not working correctly. I have the 525/29.97 thru SDI In to digibeta and I get the video, but the four tracks of audio are pulsating on and off? About every second the meters go up and the audio plays and then it quickly goes down. Any ideas?
We are very appreciative for any help.

Thank you very much, Richard. I forgot to mention that the project is also 23.98.

Gary,
That sounds about right. Thank you for the explanation.
Best regards,

I just started working here a few weeks ago. No one here knows where the snake cable is or if we have one. Just the K3 box. Room is busy now. Later I plan on switching the small bncs from 1 to 2. It was only SDI 1 input that was flaky. If problem moves to SDI 2 input with the #1 BNC, then the plug/cable is the culprit. If it Stays on the card #1 input, then the card connector is flaky. Someone probably yanked the cable too many times before I got here.

it appears to be an intermittent connection on the smallBNC’s that connect to the card in the Mac or the connection on the card.

range check is off. I tried another capture today and the same thing happens. It only happens on the AJA 10 bit uncompressed Log RGB from a Sony HAcamSR using 444 footage. I used an older 10 bit uncompressed 422 shot and this doesn’t happen there.

We have the box and I tried just sending in a single SDI 422 to #1 input and it does not see it. It works in the #2 input, I move it to # 1 in and the AJA control panel does not show it coming in. I just started working here at a new facility and this was an old problem they left for the new guy. 🙂

Welcome to the club. Over the the years I have had to learn FCP, Avid (all systems), discreet, Quantel iQ, Sony Vegas, PPro, and 30 other systems and apps along with compositing and grading. Maya, Cinema 3D and 3D Studio Max are also tools I have learned and used for many years. I am now using Scratch for 2k and 4K projects along with RED stuff. It never ends. Start reading manuals or you will just be lost in the crowd. Don’t forget all the plugins you also need to learn.

April 18, 2008 at 7:59 pm in reply to: how do I make an effect that will fade out then in audio?Option W turn on Clip Overlay
P turns on pen tool
Add four points close to each other by clicking once for each point to one track (affects both tracks if they are stereo)
Hold the A key down (reselects the selection tool) and then Drag the line down between the middle two points.
It fades out and then fades back up. Timing is determined by how far apart you make each keyframe point. If it is a tight transition (quick fade down nad then right back up, then only three points are needed. Click for two points with space in between (points 1 and 3) then add point 2 in the middle and hold the mouse button down to drag that point down. It will fade out and then back in quickly.
I use Show Audio Waveforms to see quiet areas to apply the fades. I also use Add edit (Control V) and drag some space in between the clips. Then just right click to Add default transition to the out and in of each new clip in the usual way of crossfades. Make your own new default settings if they are different and used a lot. Such as 2 second crossfades or four seconds. Whatever works.
