you say removed. What? They take it away from you or they just take it out of the gear and you carry it. I have a MacBook Pro with a spare battery in my backpack. Should I leave one battery home? The whole idea for two MacBook batteries was for airline flights when the first ran out.

I just got BM test files (bars) to work. It appears our H.264 mov file won’t be recognized. What type of file can I make from an HD FCP project that will work with this setup?

    Hi Walter.
Yes. All the latest upgrades. I just did a new install a few days ago of everything from scratch, too. So I have a clean system. Motion can also cause a freeze of the whole system almost everyday.

I also had similar problems yesterday. I was also using sequences that had subtitles that had semi-transparent black backgrounds. I did not get render error pop ups, I got crappy renderings on 30 second sequences. Flash frames, freezes, wrong dissolves.

I rebooted and and took out the black BGs and then it worked okay.

March 7, 2008 at 11:00 pm in reply to: Need to rent 2 Sony EX cameras

    Hu Steve,

🙂 Can’t move the show to AZ this time. We could probably get by with running two 16gb cards loaded on each cam and swapping out the third card during intermission. Should be easier/cheaper than hiring people and laptops and hard drives to download during the show. Plus the possibility of someone messing up the download to laptop and losing footage I cannot replace. If I can’t find enough 16gb cards to rent, then I have no choice to do what you suggest. Hmmm, Maybe I should buy cards and rent them out. 🙂 Maybe 8GB cards are easier to get and swap out more often.

Anyone around Rockville, MD that owns a Sony EX and possibly wants to shoot for a three hour show?

I will let others say for sure, but I thought I heard before that a 30″ will not work with the MXO and the Apple 23″ was the best way to go.

I think I narrowed it down to a few recent projects. They were set for 32 bit float and I lowered them to 8 bit dither and the crashing stopped. But, these projects have worked before and the only thing that has changed are these recent apple updates for QT and Pro Kit.

I just tried removing all 3rd party plugins. Hopefully that will work.

Tell your producer I will do it with him if you are not interested. 🙂 I designed a facility last year with a Sony 4K projection system, Quantel iQ 4K real time, Pablo color and lots of storage. RED was not out yet, but we were considering it. All the other cameras mentioned earlier were also being considered as alternatives until the RED became available. FCP was also in the design for off lining to the Quantel iQ as a final online.
