[Scot Walker] “No, I mean an NTSC HD 1080p Samsung TV to preview it in NTSC.”
Does that imply that you normally work in PAL / 50 hrz mostly? ? NTSC TV’s are not known for compatibility in 50hrz countries, especially not the consumer grade sets.
Secondly, You can’t do a professional edit without looking at the entire image at resolution. Banding, artifacts and other issues can only be viewed at actual resolution.
Lastly. 10TB of storage is about enough to do a single 4K project on, I would recommend that you consider 18T or more as your base storage level to Cut a real 4K project.

[Gaetan Charest] “WE need to recover the material (priceless) from the SXS card which is formatted UDF. is there any chance to recover?”
If there is only a single take on the card, it is lost, if there are multiple takes, there is a good chance the data can be recovered.
It is not simple nor is it inexpensive, did you talk to the people that rented you the camera? That would be the first place to start.

[Oliver Peters] “I think you have to use the Canon or maybe CD software to convert those to something else, like a DPX string”
you need to get stuff from both,
CD has the app to convert and transfer the files and Canon has the updated software to handle the RAW codec.

[frank tourv] “Question on the canon c500 external feed – it can record up to 120fps from what i read, however kipro says 60p is its max recording speed – does this mean i cant record over 60p?”
If it says it can only record 60p that is the max frame rate you will be able to record regardless of what the camera can do. As you stated you can record internally then use the camera as the output device to send a 24p signal to the Quad.
Codex is the only external recorder that supports 120fps external recording in 4K as far as I know.

[Alan Lacey] “Being left with a heavy AJA doorstop now (my IoHD) I’m never going to buy AJA again.”
You are using a device designed for workflows using FCP 6 (2007) using an connection interface that Apple has discontinued on all but the iMac starting in 2010, with device drivers exclusively written by Apple for Aja.
it is part of the changing technology front.
My first HD video card, purchased in 1999 had a $24,999 cost and only did 1080 29.97 at 1920×1035,
My first 20MB hard drive cost $1899.00 and sounded like a small airplane.

have you contacted Aja?
I am not one to answer as I have never used the Analog connections on my Io’s in more than a few years.
Give them a call, they should be able to answer the question.

[Brian Thomas] “G-Drive 4TB/Thunderbolt 165MB/s 163MB/s
G-Drive 4TB/USB3 152MB/s 151MB/s
Cadigit AVDrive 2TB/USB3 66 63”Brian,
which Speed app did you test with? Those numbers seem pretty low across the board, except for the Buffalo units as they use really inexpensive drives in their enclosures.I really like to remind people that you get what you pay for with Drives. Cheapest is not always the best thing.

“Yeah, after similar issues I chose not use the QIO products at all.
I have had great success with the Thunderbolt Express card reader since I do not have need for all the other ports on the device, and the TB reader allows me to also attach to FW and Sata Drives via express card adapters.

[tom bailey] “My DoP says it not so easy on digital.”
not true unless he is an owner operator who’s camera can’t do it.
Try working with a camera that allows for lower frame rates, often times at 6-8fps and an open shutter, it is easy to mimic the streaky look. different cameras responses require alot to testing.
