You are using a device designed for workflows using FCP 6 (2007) using an connection interface that Apple has discontinued on all but the iMac starting in 2010, with device drivers exclusively written by Apple for Aja.
it is part of the changing technology front.
My first HD video card, purchased in 1999 had a $24,999 cost and only did 1080 29.97 at 1920×1035,
My first 20MB hard drive cost $1899.00 and sounded like a small airplane.
