This can only be done currently with Motion 2 or Shake 4 when it ships, FCP4.5 does not handle Open EXR yet… I believe that Combustion 3 supports Open EXR also

HDCAM SR Decks use a variant of mpeg 4 compression when recording to tape at 10bit, the compression / decompression cycle from a deck is within one “deltaE” of color and luminance difference– so it is considered (or accepted) to be lossless (that variance is about .05%)

Worked for me the 2 times I have done it.
once in 4.5 and once last week in 5and don’t forget to turn the RT Extreme renderer in FCP5 or you can get a weird 2:2:2:4 cadence that is nearly impossible to remove later.

all conversion tools in FCP / CT require you to capture then convert.

FCP 4.5 does not support HDV natively so you will not be able to connect the FX1 camera directly to your computer to get HD footage. It will work in DV however.

I capture HD component direct from the camera (using the FW connection for deck control) with the AJA HD10AC component to SDI converter direct via my Kona2 card.
Then I do not have to deal with the added layer of issues inherent when laying off an “off speed” format 25fps to a tape with a different frame rate 23.98 – I think this is just asking for more problems than you have already had. Slip the timebase in FCP / CT without having to deal with the pulldown removal at all.gary adcock

Keith -apples software does not do a good 60i to 24p (PSF in your case)conversion very well, the Standards Converter from Graeme Nattress does do a fine job or use some thing such as a teranex or alchemist to properly handle the interlace to progressive frames.
as for the frame rate conversion -doing it in camera is not the best solution, as the audio will be modulated incorrectly. FCP and CT both have a 25-24fps slip function — I would recommend capture at 25fps stripping off the audio and conforming the shot after capture and not before. That way you get the correct audio off the tape before converting.
