Do not capture to the internal drive your system folder is on, it will fail and you WILL drop frames,sooner rather than later.
The issues with monitoring footage over the FW bus is a problem with the bandwidth of the FW 400 buss — it can cause a momentary blanking of video being played back from your computer out the FW port to the 1200a deck to a HDSDI display, while it is annoying it does not affect the playback to tape.

yes you can BUT, it chews up the tape transport and FCP cannot read the Tape TC over HDSDI so all you can do is crash capture. so no offline/ online possibility.

That would depend on the content, and every shooter is different, every shoot is different. Remember too that what you add in post may not compress in the same fashion as it does in the Varicam. Again because the camera is Designed to give the user the highest quality of compression to DVCProHD and it does this in hardware not software, I tend to choose the path of least resistance. I also prefer Hardware because it happens in Realtime, as it should be for HD.

that would be the 020 series menus change the output for your content
you need to manually change between 720 and 1080 settings – so you really need to go to the 600 series menus to change the output intent. -

The error means a couple of things – first of which is No TC on the tape ( you are before or after the media on the tape.

well I do… unless of course I am going to SD.
I do not like it because I work in 24p and FCP’s version HDV does not support 24 frame content –no not from any HDV camera not even the new JVC ProHD.

Wayne it’s do not mix HDV with HD footage.

Same Same.
Quite a number of people use the IoLA as the analog import for use with the Kona 2. All of the AJA Io products work with the kona 2 –
the Kona LS does not because it would make 3 video boards (AGP, Kona 2, Kona LS) in your mac and it would conflict on the PCI bus.gary adcock
