Hugo was being shot simultaneously with the intial release of Arri’s Alexa in starting in May and June 2010- at that time there was no internal recording in the camera at all, and SR tape is a proven workflow.
Even today there are productions that still require SR tape workflow.

Triggering the KiPro with Alexa only works with EdgeCode,
with a free running timecode it is not possible.I have used KiPros to automaticly record from Alexa’s HDSDI output since the first ProRes model released as a test platform in June 2010, I have worked with every version of the camera and KiPro firmware since that time without incident.
My workflows do not use edge code or free run TC, I usually work with external TC, so the change in TC when we start rolling triggers the record when the unit is set properly.
The reason it is working for you is that when you have edge code on in a free run situation, that is where the Start pulse is indicated within the RP188 functionality.
since v2 of the camera firmware, Arri added an SDI pulse in the menus that facilitated all external recorders with the ability to trigger recording, note you need to have recording media in the camera to achieve start/stop.

Btw. Alexa also triggers REC with Canon XF/C300 Metadata Setup
That setting really has nothing to do with the REC trigger, Alexa has been able to trigger a record over RP188 since V2 of camera software allowed a start/ stop pulse. ( over 14 months)
I want proper, accurate camera file naming structure from Alexa, other recorders can do it.

the 1D LUT settings are still in the “classic” control panel that install’s along with the newer versions-
BUT- would cause a conflict with having both control panels open at the same time?This brings up 2 questions:
I do not understand why Aja has seemingly forgotten to support those of us, the highend users, that are working with the vast numbers of cameras that shoot Log, LogC and S-Log footage? Omitting Professional features from existing software packages when updating cobbles exisiting workflows that many of us have built to handle these daily tasks.
KiPro Software is another place that this is happening- I can get camera metadata from Canons XF305 and the new C300, RED One and Epic camera models, but why is there not any ablity to read file similar file naming structure metadata from Arri Alexa, Sony F3’s or NXCam, Panasonic or JVC cameras? There are a hell of a lot more F3’s than C300’s in use today.

I am using my IoXT with15 and 17″ Laptops, storage is a Pegasus R6 Array over TB.
(in RAID6 I am seeing capture and playback speeds over 500MB/s)With the Shipping release of the IoXT software:
I can capture uncompressed 1080 video as 8 bit & 10 bit
I can capture uncompressed 1080 10b, as 444 RGB, as 1080 60p, as DPX or Tiff frames from Dual Link SourcesI can capture from those same single or dual link video sources in all flavors of PR from Proxyt up to PR444.
I am one of the few people that got to play with an IoXT prior to release, becuase of TB your world is about to change.

Bob, your issues all seem to have come from not reading the manual or being properly shown how to use this unit.
That grinding sound would be a hardware failure. The drive was dropped while it was spinning- that is the only thing I have ever see that causes a grinding sound on a disc drive.

You only get one chance to remove the data from a spinning disk, this does not work with SDD materials.
Put the drive module in the Freezer for 1 hour- but no more than 90min.
take the drive immedately out of the freezer, plug it into your computer and try to remove all of the files.
If it does not work, the files will need to be retirived by a professional product or service.

At the completion of the third quarter when the stop button was pressed, there was no text showing the file creating/writing itself. Nothing appeared on the screen, but rather just went back in to the status screen.
Bob,
I ran into this same issue at the NBA finals last year.and found the problem related to power fluctuations when too many accessories were tapped directly from the camera battery.
It sounds as if there was a battery swap or something that forced the mini to go offline (playback of tape in camera or turning on the light)Since you do not go into any detail about your gear it is hard to assist more than a vaguely similar issue.

That would be HDCam SR tape,
At the time that Hugo was shot the camera was so new that the ProRes workflow was untested – so the production recorded the camera output in LogC to HDCamSR

Have you run the firmware updater in the Aja Util folder?
