Ok with the new KiProRack units that just came out, the ethernet transfer rates are noticeably faster, in a network on studio facility it would be easier to handle the data stream accross the network than by sneaker net.
Everyone has a different workflow, it’s about making tools for lots of different tools that people can use as they see fit.

Not reformatting the drives can leave proceedural files, invisible to the user, that are used by the units OS that help determine blocks, sectors and system files that are unique, by not clearing those files the units often hang on the conflicting information to the OS.

what are you recording Chris, is it from a camera or some other source?
Are you starting and stopping the camera or changing batteries?
Have you reformatted the 250G drive module?
What software version are you running on the KiPro, the current software version is 3.0

the XML workflow for Alexa was really only valid for FCP7. While the metadata the camera generates can be useful on many levels – unless you are planning to include that as part of your workflow from the very beginning, most people just pass. I would however recommend that you archive that file as part of the onset data management requirements.gary adcock

The SD 744T offers options for audio recording that allow for varied bit depth (up to 96k if I remember correctly)
The KiPro does not- all audio only recordings are still captured as 24bit in a ProRes Video container, it cannot record audio as a solo file.
I am glad that the SD guys were able to answer the PreAmp question for you- that is out of my expertise.

They should be.
The 744 is an 4 track Audio Recorder, the KiPro Mini was designed as a Video Recorder, I believe that the 2 devices are not intended for the same market or user base. Audio devices allow users to add markers, set or Gen TC and with 4 inputs the ablitiy to live mix audio.
the KiPro Mini it is designed as a oncamera video recorder so it allows 2 analog audio inputs, up to 8 over HDSDI when recording into ProRes.
The question is are you recording Audio or Video- only the Mini does both.

[christoph Gelfand] “Everything was going fine with the setup until recently I started getting audio dropouts at random spots throughout my edit. I am editing ProRes 422 project with a stereo dialog track and a stereo music track- very simple. Any ideas?”
In my expreinace, the audio dropouts are a result of gaps between the dialog clips when the audio is not all camera native 24bit-
In FCP audio decompression – when the tracks come from stock music mp3’s or VO that was recorded seperatly- can take more time to playback than the straight video signal.
This issue can usually be resolved with a FULL Mixdown and RENDER of your audio and video tracks
