[Jacob Brown] “In every export I have done, there is severe banding wherever a transition is. At the beginning of the film, a fade from white transition bands badly on top of a grey background.
“OK, Jacob.
FCP sees the ProRes video as 10bit, what ever app you are viewing the file in is only seeing the 8bit ( like the QT player on either platform)TURN OFF any realtime processing- all of that in FCP or avid is only 8bit, set FCP to Safe and render the file out to see if it is still there.
You don’t say what you are playing on or how you are viewing the file, best guest here is that you are not working within the SMPTE spec (density locked btw 16-235) so your whites are too high and your blacks to low to start.
An easy fix is to process the clips with a bit of noise, 1%-3% is usually enough to clean the image contours.

[Nate Weaver] “Also LogC LUTs automagically applied is big deal too.”
Careful,
the Alexa LogC support seems to require the Camera’s version 6.0 software or later. No Alexa media I have prior to that build is being seen by the app.
But on the other hand look at the Alexa Metadata it can read from the file in 10.0.8!

[Morten Berg] “Just to clarify, if I put genlock into my KONA3G it will not solve anything because the cameras do not have the same ref, right?.”
Correct. genlock to the boards will not solve your issue.
This problem is solved simply by using a TC generator and syncing the cameras via Timecode

[Morten Berg] “slightly off-topic: as I recall it, TC sync is not god with the Epics, it needs to be genlocked?”
Epics cannot be genlocked without the Meizler module.
Using a clock-it box to Regen and then set TC in the unit would solve all of these issues and allow for better continuity for post.
(hard cabling for genlock is usually just for live event switching and 3D)

[dedy dedy] “If I recording via iPAD wifi then the loss signal can be detect ipad?..

[Morten Berg] “If they are it would solve my “problem” but i do not want to sync the cameras (extra wires, boxes and it takes time)”
So you do not want to waste time onset- but you are willing to waste time in post?
Most cameras now can TC sync to external source (clock-it) in a matter of seconds, hell you can do it with an iPad and the MovieSlate app.
TC sync would then allow you to do this with TC.

[Jay Craig] “Not sure what I’m doing wrong
It’s always choppy
“Well you did not tell us what or how your are working, choppy video can mean slow drives, incomplete processing, bad conversion of media, failure to blend frames.
and I am not sure that the 60d can do 60fps I think that is 60i isn’t it?

[Morten Berg] “he cameras do not need to be genlocked, it is only because 2 cameras in sync will give better recordings/playbacks.”
But that is what genlock does, it keeps cameras in sync with each other, why do you say you do not need it?

Loss of signal can be from any number of reasons, since you do not define what’s going on, its hard to help effectively.
could be
switcher issue
bad cable
Changing batteries
unplugging of cable
Operator error.

[dedy dedy] “Long my video is 30 menit sometime Loss Video sometime not. why?….
any one know the loss video in aja kipro.”For about a year now the firmware has allowed the user to keep recording when signal is lost under the CONFIG menu #32.0 (I think)
set it to “ON” to keep recording at loss of signal.
