You can set your second monitor to play the timeline fullframe in the Play options of the program monitor, so you´ll have this second monitor playing everything from your timeline at any time.
Also you can go to Window—> reference monitor. This will bring a resizeable reference monitor showing the same that the program monitor if you have the “gang” option enabled, and you can drag and place it where you want.

November 1, 2012 at 1:24 pm in reply to: how to project manage Arri RAW files

Actually, Premiere Proyect manager works fine with most intraframe codecs, like DV, but not with interframe like h264. I really don´t know what happens with raw files in PPM, but you could try making this job with Prelude instead, as it can extract in/out marked footage and ingest or convert it on the fly to make your proxies or offline clips.

  • Why don´t you batch transcode directly from Adobe Media Encoder or Prelude? No need to use Premiere for such simple job…

October 26, 2012 at 2:24 pm in reply to: How can I build a database

Adobe Bridge lets you add tags to all the clips, but don´t import them from Premiere Proyect pannel, but from your hard disks.
Have you tried to do it (in/out and tagged) in Prelude?

October 26, 2012 at 2:11 pm in reply to: Stabilizing in Premier Pro

I found AE 5.5 Warp Stabilizer better than Mercalli, and Premiere Pro CS6 warp stabilizer is the same than in AE 5.5. But as averyone has told you, there are some limitations, although i found very good results with AE WS in handheld shots made with an iphone.

October 26, 2012 at 2:06 pm in reply to: Multicam Sequence to Regular Sequence

I´m not really sure if this could help, as i can´t try it right now, but you could try to Duplicate the edited multicam sequence, to preserve the original one, select all the clips in the timeline, right click and disable Multicam. Other way could be copying all edited clips in Multicam sequence and pasting them in a new single sequence. Actually i don´t really know if it´ll work, just giving ideas…

  • I had a very similar problem with dynamic linked AE comps in Premiere. I found that it happened when closing and reopening proyects that haven´t been “full” processed. By this i mean that there are 2 rendering ways in premiere timeline: first, the most common, is the “render effects in timeline” option, placed by default in the “Enter” keyboard shortcut.
But there is a “Full processing all the work area in timeline” option, than can be found in the Sequence menu in the top menus of premiere. Using this option renders all in timeline under work area, and allows to preserve AE comps rendered and dynamic linked forever, even if you close AE o re-open the premiere proyect at anytime.
Anyway, ensure that you don´t move AE files or AE saved proyect to any other folder in order to mantain his rendered versions on PPro timeline.

    Hope this helps

  • To expand audio or video tracks in timeline, same as Ctrl+Alt K/L in Avid, Ann told you the tip in her first post of this thread, there´s no keyboard shortcut to do this like in Avid (at least i don´t know it) but it can be done by dragging with mouse the line between tracks in the left side ot timeline, just where the track names are.

October 17, 2012 at 10:11 am in reply to: Snapping when dragging keyframes

Yes, it´s very annoying, actually the best way i found to control it is dragging keyframes in the effects pannel timeline instead of the yellow line in the clip, as you can see the keyframe volume level reference in numbers and fix tiny changes manually if needed.

October 17, 2012 at 9:58 am in reply to: Random editing in Premiere CS5.5 ?

I´m going to respond him if you allow me, Teros: automate to sequence is an option to place in the timeline several clips at a time. You can do it by clicking in the “Automate to sequence” button, the third from the lower left in the proyect pannel if i remember correctly. You can place the clips secuentially in the timeline by his order in the bin or by selection order, you can use preset transitions or not, and they can be placed in previous timeline markers as well, all at one time.
But as Teros said, you need to mark in and outs previuously in all the clips, and you have to choose an order to place them, so perhaps it´s more time consuming and not so ramdomly as you wanted. The multicamera option needs more hardware performance as it uses 4 video tracks at a time, and if your footage is AVCHD it could be jerky, but with a good machine it will be easy and very quick.
