September 5, 2011 at 5:16 pm in reply to: EPIC or RED MX 16 Bit Debayer : is it Worth ?Well that make no sense ,
You can do that with the resolution ..not with color depth …
Color depth is part of the grading creative and technical process …needs to be at the “higher affordable level” while grading … Switching it after should change the image …even if in this case I really can’t see any differences at all (even on the keyer …)G

September 5, 2011 at 1:31 pm in reply to: EPIC or RED MX 16 Bit Debayer : is it Worth ?i know that working in 16 would give the feeling “i have used the best ”
but at 10 bit i can debayer EPiC at Full resolution in realtime (2 RR card ) ,so the experience would be smooth , at 16 is not realtime at all ….
about log : not sure sometimes red logfilm seems fantastic , but i have the feeling that red gamma 2 is giving me the best in resolve (unless i apply logtolin lot or a film print Lut …)
i think that AUTOColor does not work properly with Log images ….am i wrong?thanks

i wish i have that button on the wave , but unfortunately i don’t have the wave ….
i have the Resolve Davinci Panel …
Skin tone is not an overall look pre-made ,e having a set of skin tone fine tune control would be a bless for all professional colorist , and not a not a amateur thing as you assume to be.
ps:the auto grade button in resolve works great and same me at least 30 min every day for the first balance …

i always alway always always wondered WHY none of the color correction packages have a little special features dedicated to skin tone , skin tone is the most common element that need to be graded all the time , i would love to have something specific that help that
i know taht resolve have all you need to have great Skin work , but because skin tone are sooo common to be graded properly 9and most oo the time the most important ) i would love to have something dedicated that help in speed and in results .
as far as i know only magic bullet colorista have a nice tool to detect skin tone color and adjust it

July 19, 2011 at 4:59 am in reply to: DaVinci Resolve 8.0.1 – 3-way color corrector (coming soon)well not really ,
what is changes is the fact that now with the mouse , you can easily make a trackball correction (which means RGB at the same time…)it’s not a new tool , but is useful UI for certain situation without the Panel (i guess has been created for set usage)

are DCP specs full range 0-1023 ?
fred: i think that full range signal require a dual link RGB SDI connection (am i wrong ?)

actually the 470 , give me “only” 2 nodes more (all node with blur blur) than the 285… so i guess that 2×285 is faster than one 470 …

July 15, 2011 at 6:29 pm in reply to: Correct setting for “Colorspace conversion uses”i just rendered a prores on Davinci and openes in Scratch,
the histogram agora that is full range (not video leve 64-960)
again is godo this way because otherwise if we importa a legal level image on sistem that scale ,it will will washed out …Also QT player scale any YUV QT.so it’s godo that Gera rendered full .
but as i Said ,is not rendered legal …g

July 15, 2011 at 1:29 pm in reply to: Correct setting for “Colorspace conversion uses”mmm…
are we sure that is actually rendering out 64-940 levels ?
in past past workflows i used (SCRATCH) i always rendered full QT , but when is a YUV codec , QT player scale the image the same way that the the SDI does (if set that way) …so you have a full range file , but scaled by QT player or the SDI of the system …
every time that i have rendered a legal range signal , if i reopened on a system hat use a scaled SDI , the result was washed out (because is like scale on top of a scaled image (because the system seems that does not read teh levels of the file and scale only when is full range (but it scale regardless)
