I wouldn’t alter your actual movie just to get the DVD menu buttons right. I had this too; the black frame thing. So I simply used Vegas to render out the individual frames I wanted to use in the menu as jpg/bmp files (magnify timeline, select only the single frame then render region only) and used those in DVDA to replace the default first frame pictures in the buttons. Maybe there’s a better way within DVDA but I couldn’t find it.

I totally agree with the 50mm f1.4 recommendation and have in fact used this lens to good effect on a recent movie that was shot on a 5DMkii. Below is a link to a trailer. All these clips were shot with the 50mm because I was mostly working in low-light conditions. Incidentally, I also have the L-series 50mm f1.2. Do not bother. For the wide open shots, the 1.4 is sharper and has lower CA!!
On the APS-size sensor cameras though I might instead go for a 35mm anyway.
I agree that the 24-105 is versatile zoom-wise, but f4 is not very useful unless you’ll be in good daylight for the things you intend to film.

Hi.
Have you tried making a copy of the media file in it’s actual directory but giving it a new name, and then replacing the media file through Vegas in the media pool?
Might work.

What are the views on the ‘risks’ of making this upgrade – especially if part way through a project on Vegas 9e? I mean, Vegas 9 wasn’t stable for me until version e. What reassurance is there that 10 won’t need a few updates before it functions properly?

Nope. Never heard of it. Cineform works like a dream, so I’ve never looked further.

Same here. Convert to Cineform AVI files and take it from there. Changed my life too!! Was a nightmare before that.
