Yes, I checked “Delete unused media from duplicated items. I’ve checked and unchecked everything and in every case my Modified isn’t any different than my Original. I’m using FCP 7.0.3.

I figured out my issue. When you 5.0.3 and get to installation type, click on the customize button and twirl down the Install All Products disclosure triangle. Then check Helper Applications and it will install the new EDL manager for 5.0.3.

But do a complete uninstall first.

Ok, that makes sense. We’re using a program called Shot Put Pro to copy the media off of the cards and using AMA to link to those files and then transcoding. But essentially, we could have used Consolidate instead of Shot Put. Thanks guys.

June 14, 2010 at 9:44 pm in reply to: Error Messages and MC 5 won’t open

Thanks, that did the trick. However; once in a while I still get the error message and I have to shut down MC 5 because it won’t let me do anything until I re-start. MC 5 does allows me to save so nothing is lost.

Yes. I just did a complete uninstall of MC 4 and then re-installed MC 5. I’m able to open MC 5 and edit, however, once in a while I still get the error message and MC 5 crashes. I’m able to do a save before I close it down so nothing is lost but it’s some kind of bug. Thanks Job ter Berg for the help.

Thanks. I’ll just wait ’till the full version is out and hopefully this will be resolved.

Thank you so much. That clears up a lot of confusion. I’ll definitely take your advice about keeping projects and media on separate drives. Thanks again.

Thanks, everything is online again. Just a couple of questions if you’d be so kind. In Final Cut terms, the Avid MediaFiles folder will serve as my Capture Scratch folder? I moved the Avid MediaFiles folder from my HD to an external video drive along with the project folder. So, as long as I create a new project in my external drive, will Avid know to place the MXF files in the Avid MediaFiles in my external? Thanks.

November 25, 2009 at 5:16 pm in reply to: Can’t see my timeline on my deck

I’m just using a camera not an actual deck. The tape does have timecode laid down on it. I was able to print to it on FCP and like I said Premiere can capture off of it. When I go my Preferences, in the Device Control options it Premiere sees my camera as online. I just can’t seem to get the signal from Premiere’s timeline into my camera for recording. The recording instructions work fine on FCP so I’m pretty sure I’m following the instructions correctly. Maybe Premiere only works with professional equipment?

  • Thank you so much for the help. This was a real leap forward in my understanding of Expressions. Just one more question please. Why is the end parentheses “}” coming after the semicolon? So far I’ve learned to place parentheses at the end of variables.
