Is there any way to open up the project without FCP having to look for all the files? There are hundreds of mxf files that FCP is looking for. Is there any way to bypass this? I’ve sat here for a half hour hitting cancel for the files it’s looking for.

“Maybe keeping the sequence you’ve been working from this past month will speed the reconstruction back up…”

Yes! I didn’t think of that. That will indeed speed up the process of piecing together the film. I’ll at least have the correct timecodes where I set in and outs. Thanks!

It’s possible something was moved. Every drive that has always been connected to the compute was connected when I tried last. My gut feeling, however, is something was deleted an no one wants to confess.

We do make a lot of reference movies. Everyday the producer wants to see what we’ve done. So, we make reference movies to burn to DVD for him.

Thank you so much. You’ve been a huge help. So far so good and everything is working as it should. The FCP organization DVD has been helpful too. I can’t thank you enough.

No, I didn’t use Log and Transfer. I offloaded the media using Shot Put Pro (to create several backups), imported the media into FCP 7, and am going to use Media Manager to create the Pro Res files to use as my offline.

Oh, ok. I wasn’t sure if 24p and 23.98 were the same thing or if there was a slight difference. Thanks.

Ok, got it. One other question. I want to sent a timeline over to an external but instead of just handles, I want the person who’ll be receiving the project to have access to the entire clip if they need it. In other words, If a clip in one minute long, and my cut is 10 seconds, if the other editor were to do a match frame of Find in Bin, I’d like him to have access to the entire one minute. I’ve tried Copy All Media but I don’t see any MXF files in the Avid MediaFiles folder. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • I can’t find it. I don’t see Automatic Duck. Is it under a different category?

    Ah, that’s the issue! Thanks.
