FCP keeps searching for missing files
I tried opening a project yesterday and I keep getting a message from FCP telling me that it’s missing files then a second screen pops up asking me if I want to search or cancel. I hit cancel and it asks for another file and so on and so forth. It keeps asking for so many files that I just give up. I was away from work for a week and other editors worked on a different project while I was away and everyone at work swears they didn’t delete anything. But even if they did, if a file is missing or has been moved, I’ll get the usual screen telling me media is offline and if I want to search for it. Even if I hit cancel, FCP opens the project with the media unlinked. What I’m getting is different.
The project I’m working on started in Avid and was brought over to FCP using Automatic Duck. FCP keeps searching for MXF files. I’ve used Spotlight to look for the files with no luck and I don’t know what to do. We were going to lock picture and now this. My only option is to re-export another AAF from Avid but then I’ll lose all the work I’ve done for the last month. The producer is being pretty understanding but if anyone has any clue it would be greatly appreciated. I really just want the project to open because I did a lot of work replacing bad audio and I want to at least access the clean audio. Any advice would be much appreciated.
