Can’t see my timeline on my deck
Hi all,
I’m coming over from FCP and can’t get my timeline to show up on my deck when I try to export to tape. The deck is online because I can capture off of the deck but I can’t print to tape. When this happened in FCP I’d go under the edit menu and hit Refresh External Devices and check All Frames. What’s the equivalent of this in Premiere? Is there a setting I’m missing? I’m working with NTSC DV 48k & my project matches. I’m just trying to get comfortable with Premiere so thanks in advance for any help.

Hi Frank,
What kind of deck do you have? I have a Panasonic DV2000, and there is an “Edit Mode” switch on the front with settings for Recorder or Passive, and Passive works best for me.
Also, record a minute or so of black on your new tape, then roll back into recorded portion, Print to Tape needs timecode to latch onto.

I’m just using a camera not an actual deck. The tape does have timecode laid down on it. I was able to print to it on FCP and like I said Premiere can capture off of it. When I go my Preferences, in the Device Control options it Premiere sees my camera as online. I just can’t seem to get the signal from Premiere’s timeline into my camera for recording. The recording instructions work fine on FCP so I’m pretty sure I’m following the instructions correctly. Maybe Premiere only works with professional equipment?
