Thanks Michael…. I had a felling I would get that answer. I don’t get it at all. Why not give us a tool we can work with?
Thanks Again and Happy New Year!!

These Forums are GREAT… I had the same question. I use a Zoom as well for my 7D. What about sinking up the audio to the video without using additional software. I do it right in FCP by marking obvious peaks on the 7D & Zoom and then I match them up in the time-line. The thing I dislike most about this is it’s difficult to make fine adjustments.

I’m not an expert, but I am in a similar world. We shoot with the XH A1s and 7D. If you have a good amount or storage space, capturing your HDV ProRes422 is the way to go, it’s easier to work. I’m not there yet, but I plan on going that route in 2011. When you capture HDV as ProRes, it is 1440×1080, not full raster 1920×1080…so they won’t match exactly. But you don’t have to capture ProRes, you can capture HDV as HDV, and 7D as ProRes and just use a ProRes sequence setting. You’ll have to render more than you want, but it will work.

Someone will be able to help.

There’s a number of workflows for this situation. I’m in the same boat actually, as I’m not 100% DSLR.
Here’s what I can share. If you have the room, Capture your HDV ProRes. But know that when you capture HDV as ProRes, it is 1440×1080, not full raster 1920×1080…so they won’t match EXACTLY. But you don’t need to. You can capture HDV as HDV, and 7D as ProREs….and just use a ProRes sequence setting. But ProRes is better in the end…easier to work with.
Regarding the 7D files… you’ll nee to transcode them. I use MPEG Streaming at this time, and it is freeware https://www.squared5.com/
Best Regards!

December 30, 2010 at 9:27 pm in reply to: Why doesn’t my footage look as good as Hollywood?Hi Peter…
Over all the HDV and ProRes footage seem to get along OK. I was concerned about capturing the HDV ProRes… you and Shane both mention space as a concern, and space is an issue for me at this time.
Thanks
