Since MP3 is a highly compressed format, and even in 320 kbps it’s kind of lossy, I think you’re on the save side to record in WAV.
48khz 24Bit should be enough for any kind of work in post. At least that’s what I was told by a sound technician – so this is how I work…

These Forums are GREAT… I had the same question. I use a Zoom as well for my 7D. What about sinking up the audio to the video without using additional software. I do it right in FCP by marking obvious peaks on the 7D & Zoom and then I match them up in the time-line. The thing I dislike most about this is it’s difficult to make fine adjustments.

You don’t want to ‘sink’ your audio unless you are working on submarine footage. In every other case, just sync it.

Select the audio and use Alt+arrow keys to nudge the clip one frame at a time.

Wavs are essentially the same as .aif so that’s the way you want to go. Make sure you choose the 48khz setting so that your audio doesn’t drift when you try to line it up with your footage.

wav, less compressed, SD cards are cheap anyway. record with less compression. You cant work well with mp3’s in FCP.
