    Thanks Shane…

HDV… yes, I’ll remember that. What you mentioned is pretty much what I’ve been doing. I just have to render more than I’d like. Space is an issue for me at this time too.

    Thanks Again!

    Hi Shane…

I watched your Tapeless Workflow tutorial, Thanks! It’s great info.

I have a quick question… regarding mixing 1080 MiniDV footage and 7D footage. Would you recommend capturing the MiniDV footage prores422, so as to keep it the same as transcoded 7D footage, then a ProRes Easy setup in FC 7? I’m not situated to shoot everything DSLR yet.

I agree with Michael…you’re looking at 23.98. What’s your typical capture workflow? I’m thinking you’ll probably want to capture using a HDV 1080p24 – firewire easy setup. Drop one clip into the time line FCP will ask you if you want the sequence settings to match the clip settings, say ‘yes’. Then take a look at your sequence setting.. you’ll probably see 23.98.

Does that sound about right Michael?

    Hi…

I’m not doing anything that complicated. I’m shooting with an A1s and 7D. RE: Setup, Capture, and Transcoding. Should I use a ProRes 422 easy setup and capture ProRes 422 then transcode my 7D footage Pro Res…. or use HDV easy setup (firewire) and transcode my 7D footage the same?

    Hi Chris…

    Yes, shooting 16:9 on a Canon XH A1s and Canon 7D … I’m 1440 x 1080. I’ll try the 4:3… last year when I was 720 x 480 anomorphic that worked.

Here’s my sequence setting, clip based

    Time Base: 29.97fps
    Frame Rate: 1440 x 1080 (16:9)
Field Dominance set to none <— note sure if this is right given I have mixed media
    QuickTime Compressor setting: 422 (LT)

    Thanks

I’m pretty new to all this, so please bear with me. I have a real mixed bag. We are shooting with a Canon XH A1s and a Canon 7D (transcoding in mpeg steaming now, but will be adjusting workflows to prores in compressor soon)… just now getting into the editing process. We started shooting at 30fps on both and will be switching to 24, but that’s not my problem. My footage on both is 1440 x 1080. I have my sequence setting in FCP set all at the same 1440 x 1080, my frame rate too .. all 16:9. I’m sending my project to compressor and importing the mp2+Dolby into DVD Pro… again, keeping everything at 16:9. The end result being a letterboxed DVD (top and bottom). Images attached I think 🙂

    Any suggestions?

    June 2, 2010 at 2:46 pm in reply to: workflow/settings for 30p

    Hi…

I’m in the process of changing my workflow in FCP. We just started shooting with Canon’s XH-A1s and the a 7d. We’re not shooting 24p just yet, but starting with 30p. My question has to do with setup in FCP. I had been shooting anomorphic previously and my final product was DVD’s. My final product will still be DVD’s and I’m wondering what would be the best easy setup in FCP to deliver a DVD viewed 16:9 with the new equiptment.

    help 🙂
