  • OK some questions are in order here:

Will Motion do a chromakey and CC on a 20 minute clip in RT? Out of Motion, or actually using the motion clip inside FCP to edit to tape? in RT?

From FCP 4; in the timeline settings (command-0):

When you are on a 10 bit timeline you can choose whether you want effects rendered in RGB 8 bit, YUV 8 Bit, YUV 10 bit or 32 bit floating point precision. After rendering it gets rounded off to the precision of your timeline.

May 28, 2005 at 10:02 pm in reply to: SAN: ADTX on Apple Fibre cards not working

The ADTX disk array is fine. At this moment it seems like the G5’s on os X.3.8 work perfectly, but the G4’s on os X.3.9 don’t. A quick test with the G4’s on os X.3 showed that they should work. Further updates on the new generic SAN forum.

    Hi chrispy

Yes, I have no option but to try to find the SAN experts on several forums here. I made a mistake in referring everyone earlier to the os X forum, but it seems the thread is actually continuing in the XSAN forum.

Well my program file for FCP 4.5 HD is 142MB in size. I thinks something has gone wrong with yours. It should not be that big!

Funny how this news is coming out. This is a big thing for us editors.

    HUGE. Really.

But it seems the cardmakers and Apple marketing people still don’t realise it! Cinewave earned a huge premium above other cards for three years because of this one capability.

And it’s the one thing that Avid’s Adrenaline could do over the past two years do that FCP couldn’t (without Cinewave).

Believe me, in day to day workflow this is going to boost efficiency on FCP tremendously.

    Hey Bob

Why don’t you tell him about Huge arrays? They do work with Avid, and are much more affordable.

We also found it does not affect Adobe’s Premiere Pro, but it does affect Adobe’s Encore DVD creation software on PC.
