    Hi Nate

Can you give me a link so I can upload a short clip of the problematic file ?

If possible the original, un-edited file and the rendered file.

It would be easier for me to better understand your predicament.

    Cheers !

    Hi Nate

Try converting your downloaded file (before it ‘s imported into Vegas) with Handbrake. Make it an uncompressed format that will be 29.97FPS.
Import that file in Vegas and let me know if you still have the same problem.

    Cheers !

    Hi john

Here’s a link that will explain what’s happening:

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Compression_artifact

You can minimize the artifacting by rendering progressive and using a .PNG file instead of .JPEG

Also, go to Custom Settings and select Use deblocking filter, that will reduce the amount of unwanted artifacts.

    Cheers !

P.S.: Is that your music ? (it’s part of my playlist now…)

    Hi John

Try these settings in File / Properties… / Project Properties:

    11449_projectproperties.jpg.zip

Setting Good in Full-resolution rendering quality uses bilinear scaling without integration, while Best uses bicubic scaling with integration. If you’re using high-resolution stills (or video) that will be scaled down to the final output size, choosing Best can prevent artifacts.

On a final note, use the 8 bit setting for when you are editing and the 32-bit floating point (video levels) when you do your final render so not to bog down your rig.

Let me know how it works out.

    Cheers !

    Hi John

I am seeing some artifacting in your blacks. (pixel blocks) For some reason the file may have been too compressed at some point.

When you are in Customize Template / Projects / Video rendering quality, Did you select Use Project Settings or Best ?

In File / Properties… / Video, can you do a screen grab of your settings ?

    Cheers !

    Hi John

So, if I read this right, the specs that you sent me are from the files that you uploaded to Youtube ?

What was (were) the effect(s) that you use on top of your background ? (Screen shot of your timeline would be nice)

When you say ”I use the standard 1080p settings for InternetHD in Vegas 13”, are you referring to MainConcept AVC/AAC ?

Have you tried rendering with Sony AVC/MVC Internet 1920X1080-30p also ?

Do you get the same effect with other types of render ? (.AVI, .MPG2, ETC…)

    Cheers !

  • Hi Dominic

Can you re-post your pic file, something did not take. The link is not working for your .PNG

  • Hi Peter

Well, personally I think you’re on the right track to downgrade for editing. In order to not choke up Vegas, especially if you have a lot of effects in your clip(s), I downgrade it way down and after I am done, re-assign the original video track prior to final render.

It makes for a more fluid work-space.

    Cheers !
