Hi Corey

Now’s a good time to do some major cleanup. Windows has a tendency to keep remnants of programs that have been removed thru time. I would save everything that I wanted to keep before formatting the drive. Also make sure you have all necessary drivers, programs, serial numbers, etc… prior to deletion. You would be surprised how much faster your PC will be after a fresh install on a clean drive. Your other option is to get yourself a new drive and do a fresh install on that. The up side is that if something bad happens, you still have the original drive to fall back on.

Hi Corey

You should always use the un-install feature. By using delete, you are partially removing you program. My guess is that there is a ton of leftover data from you program on your drive, some of it just waiting for instruction that are partially there. No wonder you are having problems.

My recommendation is to either use a very good drive cleaner software or re-format your drive. At this point it’s the only way I know of getting rid of it all.

Hey Santeri !

I was wondering the same thing as Ole K.

By the way, VLC is a packet-based media player.

That is why it can play almost all video content. It can play almost anything, even if the files are damaged or incomplete.

Don’t forget that VLC also has a built in feature that does caching in order to deliver the output at a steady rate.

Never base the quality of your footage on the output from VLC.

Don’t get me wrong, VLC is a great player, just not a good reference.

Not taking any chances. I’ll wait and see if the changes affect the way the new software version interacts with the hardware.

Your best bet for a smooth install is to purchase the software.

Unfortunately, I don’t think you will get any sympathy here.

If it wasn’t for software developers (they don’t work for free) we wouldn’t have all these great editing tools.

I’ve been editing for 35 years and never could understand most of the lingo uttered by techkies that would magically pop up from behind our consoles when something went wrong…

I can’t find anywhere the specs that will let me know what is the maximum RAM it can use, the maximum of threads it can use, etc…

Sony and now Magix will give you the minimum specs so that Vegas will work, minimally.

I was going for a twin Xeon built on a server board for stability and also for power. Life is to short to wait for post effect previews and renders…

Each E7-4820 would give me 10 cores and 20 threads (does it mean that I will end up with 20 cores and 40 threads ?)

Does it make any sense ? ..or am I dreaming in technicolor ?

The ideal scenario would be to find the ultimate, best working build parameters for Vegas.

I guess I was spoiled with what we had when I was working for a national network…

Hi Raymond

The fact that your laptop did overheat sometimes before and that now it is getting worse points to a possible suspect; the cooling system.

You have a fan sucking air non-stop. You are bound to have lint build-up between the fan output and the cooling array.

(picture of a really badly lint clogged cooling system)

I would eliminate that possibility first. Any video manipulating software will be CPU intensive and generate heat. In order to do a proper job, you have to dis-assemble the laptop. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that, bring it to a reputable service center. Blowing air from the outside will only disperse the lint inside or the dislodged lump can interfere with the proper operation of the fan.

I think I’ve narrowed it down to your Sapphire plugin. My suggestion is to re-install the plugin. Something go corrupted along the way. If the problem persist, try contacting the good people at BorisFX. I am confident that they will find a solution for you.
