Do you mean that for a Resolve setup you have to have the Q4000 in slot one? I assume that the way you tell your system to use Slot 2 for GUI would be to not have any monitors plugged into the Q4000 and only in the 5770 or is there something else you have to do to tell MacOS X to assign GUI to a specific card?

I might flip the cards to give it a try.

  • Hi there, Guys

Anywhere you can point me to to get more info on getting my hands on flashed alternatives to the Q4000 ?
+ more info on the mods needed for powering them etc.

Just doing the flip from Color & FCP now and am new to the CUDA game.

Sasha / Chad, you running these, I assume?

    Much appreciated.

  • Thanks, K

Was thinking there would be an expression for sure, but I need to have it set up once only, and then have the expression let go of the values so that I can generate parallax shift by animating the AE camera. Any thoughts here?

Motion had this feature to reverse scatter layers in Z space to maintain scale. (Not that Motion would work for this project) . Was wondering if AE snuck it in after the last few updates…

“uh yeah – that what you told it to do, “

Telling FCP to do this with DVCProHD does not have the same effect. 59.94 frames are preserved. Just difficult to believe that FCP treats DVCProHD with flexibility in this area beyond ProRes.

Nothing bad about conforming. Except it’s an extra step. Have experienced a streamline by frame preservation of previous workflow.

Frame blending is not the problem here. The problem is that the extra frame is not available when 59.94 footage is stretched at 50% on a 29.97 timeline. Turning off frame blending gives you 2 duped frames as if you’re 50% slowmo on 29.97 footage on 29.97 timeline.

Just conform? THis is not DVCProHD that I can use the conform tool with. Is there anything like that for ProRes that I’m not aware off? (Opened the Logging info and tried to hard conform it by changing framerate but that’s locked.)

    Aaah. SOLVED.

You are correct. It is in fact respecting the Alpha. What it does not do is scale the target footage and BackGround layer to match each other in final comp. To explain: I’m working with 1080×1920 (yes, portrait format) keyed footage comped onto a 1280×720 BG. Only the overlap of 1080×720 renders the LightWrap effect. And that was happening off-screen for the 3D cam comp which sent me on an egg-hunt.

Pre-comping again. Sad. Since in this case that actually knocks down quality quite visibly.

    Hi, D

Hehe. The Red Giant kit is exactly what I’m trying to use in this situation.
    KeyCorrect Pro : LightWrap
Problem is its not set up for working with pre-mul footage, and we pulled keys already &pre rendered as part of a needed workflow to work with a complex 3D comp with multiple large keyed layers.

    thnx. aware of the”spill” article

Yep. Tried that. But pulling a TrkMat with a dupe layer does not work.
Coming full circle in thinking about it, it means I’m stuck with a limitation on the Plugin that can’t assign layers as alpha and only grabs the alpha created by masks & keyer on a layer (regardless of premultiplied transparency). So even if there was an Extract Alpha (Like Extract Z in 3D Channel Extract) it would not have made a difference since it involves more than one layer interacting.

    Thanks for bouncing thoughts

So what I’d really need to do is get the premul alpha re-applied within the layer itself. Any tips among the herd for this one?

PreRenders from keys pulled in AE. Animation MoC+. PreMultiplied Embedded Alpha
