Had the same issue with audio weirdness that did not surface with DVCPRO HD but did with ProRes. – turns out that my Expansion utility somehow got reset and only allocated 1x to the slot for Kona3.

The weird thing is that Expansion Slot Utility does not recognize the Kona3 card when installed as it does other PCIe cards – which is probably the reason why it did not open the utility for you automatically in the first place when you installed the card.

Anyone out there done actual tests on using the AJA Adobe 6.0.0 plugin for video out with Kona3 vs the direct VideoPreview out from AE?

Only pain is loosing BG render. That’s been very good for my workflow…

Question: did you notice performance increase with the latest AJA Adobe 6.0.0 plugin? (not the one installed by the driver- this is an additional download from AJA site under Kona3) spoke to AJA tech and apparently makes a huge difference. They’re working on CS4 version – and I don’t know these guys to be spending resources in developing software that allows hardware acceleration for nothing…

Uh.Um. That is one of the 3 options I mentioned (which I’m currently using due to NP constraint). Apparently you can get HD 1080p24 RT when firing up their plugin for AE with Kona3. LHe does not pull hard enough to move that.

Anyone out there using either one of the other 2 suggested AJA plugins for AE?

Quick question: You need to buy and individual license for Xsan for every workstation & server to run, right? This will probably have to be replaced if you want to migrate to SnowLeopard?

I hear you.

Would I need a switch if only 2 MacPro’s are connected ? Had assumed that they can both just be connected to the array directly since there are 2 ports there. And then one of them runs Xsan as meta-controller? If that’s not the case I can see why you’re frowning at my current point of departure.

Question on your article:
The computers connected to the Ethernet SAN – they’re only connected by 1 cable each, right? So that means max 1Gb max, right?

If you have not found a solution to the problem yet, here you go:

My guess is all of you have an AJA Io or Card, right…? If I did not open a project that rendered fine prior to getting an AJA Io HD I would never have deducted this. But my suite worked fine with round-trip DVCPRO HD & FCP before getting the Io. And checked the same clip on the other suite without Io – and that worked fine too.

Spoke to one of the very helpful guys at AJA and he suggested removing a codec that installs with the A Io control panel. root/ library/ Quicktime/ AJAUncompressed

I don’t need that codec. And uninstalled it. Voila! AE is working fine again with DVCPRO HD. I can live again.
