    Can you tell me the error ?

    Probably you are on an the legacy Javascript engine that doesn’t support Math.sign

    replace it with (s<0 ? -1:1)

    Hi Pawel,

    25/10 is the day daylight savings time changes, so just adding 24 hours to the date, doesn’t bring you to the next day.

    Try this instead, it uses the feature of javascript that you can ask for day 40 of a month, or month 15 of a year etc. and it will give you the correct day in the next month/year.

    var day_slider = thisComp.layer("CONTROL").effect("DAY")("Slider");
    var month_slider = thisComp.layer("CONTROL").effect("MONTH")("Slider");
    var year_slider = thisComp.layer("CONTROL").effect("YEAR")("Slider");
    var how_many_days = thisComp.layer("CONTROL").effect("HOW_MANY_DAYS")("Slider");
    var start_date = new Date(0);
    start_date.setHours(0); // midnight
    var lista = new Array();
    for (j=0;j<=how_many_days;j++){
    start_date.setFullYear(year_slider);
    start_date.setMonth(month_slider-1);
    start_date.setDate(day_slider); // change the day last, so the year/month will automatically roll over
    lista.push(start_date+"\n");
    day_slider++;
    }
    lista;
  • The Eyedropper has always had problems, I’ve even had it not working WITHIN After Effects in some versions of the app.

    The easy fix though, when it’s not working, is to click the mouse down on a region of the screen where it does work (like the composition viewer window), and while the mousebutton is held down, move the pointer to the place you want to sample, then release the mouse.

  • It is simply a moment in the video where the MP4 compression algorithm doesn’t have enough bitrate to accurately describe the image, so it throws away information. It always odes that, but in these frames it’s not oding a very good job at choosing what.

    Try manually encoding with a different bitrate, or a 2-pass encdoing, or use a different MP4 encoder like handbrake for example.

    (And never render direcly to mp4 from After Effects/AME. Always render to an intermediate codec like for example quicktime ProRes first, then encode that ProRes to mp4)

    The easiest way would be to add a camera with the minimum angle of view possible: 0,01°
    That will be very close to an isometric perspective.

    (Note that due to the loss of perspective, this will look exactly the same as scaling the letters from [0,100] to [100,100])

  • Alternatively, you could just keep the gradient from White to Black, and use a TriTone effect where you can effect the 3 colors with expressions.
    The result of thosee expression will have to be an array of length 4:
    [r,g,b,a];

    but alpha will be ignored

  • They are a special kind of keyframe whose value cannot be manipulated with expressions.

    You can however set a few different keyframes, and use an expression with valueAtTime() to dynamically choose/interpolate between those keys.

  • An expression can only be applied to something that is keyframe-able to begin with.

    So, if the vari-font plugin has keyframe-able paramaters like weight or slant that just expect a number, then they should be perfectly capable of being driven by an expression.

    You didn’t assign the new calculation to anything yet, so the y indeed stays unchanged.

    The Math.pow should be done on a -1 to +1 sin value, so wait with mulitplying *a untill afterwards.

    Like this:

    y=Math.sin(t*2*Math.PI*f/thisComp.layer("SLIDER controls").effect("Speed")("Slider"));

    y=Math.pow(y, 0.5) * Math.sign(y) * a;

    [x,y]

  • Instead of this part clockTimeNumber = Math.floor(clockStartTime – rateOfSpeed*time);

    Try this:

    t = time - thisComp.marker.key(1).time;
    if (t<0) t=0;
    clockTimeNumber = Math.floor(clockStartTime - rateOfSpeed*t);

    Keep the rest of the expression the same, although there seems to be something missing in the part you pasted here (it endse with an else-clause, but there’s no if before it)
