    something like this:

    s = Math.sin(t);
    Math.pow(s, 0.5) * Math.sign(s);

    as that 0.5 will tend to 0, the sin will flatten the tops and bottoms of the sinewave more and more, approaching a square wave. Making the value of the power larger than 1 will make it approach a ‘needle pulse’ as it tends to infinity.

    If you are running the Legacy javascript engine. Math.sign() isnet supported and you would need this:

    s = Math.sin(t);
    Math.pow(s, 0.5) * (s<0 ? -1:1);

    replace the “t” with your formula of course.

  • If it is a custom Path, then it is indeed tricky. Do you have the same problem if you start from a parametric rectangle or circle path ?
    Make sure you draw or transfrom/move the points of the Path around the default anchorPoint instead of moving the anchorpoint.

    I use a method that uses 1 very simple expression on a 2nd text-layer.

    `Just a pickwhip of the sourcetext of the original.

    On the duplicate textlayer add a textanimator with “character value” to change every character into a “|” or “N” or “0” character, then use minimax effects on alpha to connect everything.

    (The “H” and “V” effects you see in the screengrab are also minimax effects, one set to horizontal only, the other to vertical only for finetuning)

  • Maybe the unique ID you’re looking for could be the property .dynamicLinkGUID

    http://docs.aenhancers.com/items/item/#item-dynamiclinkguid

  • I had no idea it was even possible to run scripts and manipulate projects via aerender.
    I tought it only looked at the render cue and initiated a render.

    October 27, 2020 at 10:02 am in reply to: Dynamic, Multi-Point, Marker-Triggered Timeline

    – Make the timeline and all the event circles the child of a Null Layer.

    – We will give the anchorPoint of this Null Layer this expression:

    m=thisLayer.marker;

    slideTime = 0.6;

    if (m.numKeys>1) {

    nk = m.nearestKey(time-slideTime);

    nextKeyIndex = Math.min(m.numKeys, nk.index + (nk.time < time-slideTime));

    prevKeyIndex = Math.max(1 , nextKeyIndex-1);

    fromP = thisComp.layer(m.key(prevKeyIndex).comment).position;

    toP = thisComp.layer(m.key(nextKeyIndex).comment).position;

    animTime = m.key(nextKeyIndex).time;

    ease(time, animTime, animTime+slideTime, fromP, toP);

    } else {

    value

    }

    The markers are supposed to go on the null layer, and have the same names as the (unique) layernames of the event circles.

    By animating the anchorpoint, not the position of the null, you can still animate position and scale of the null.

  • It would be easiest if you create pairs of one leader, one follower, so you move the left one and the right one responds, but not the other way around too. Because indeed, in the world of expressions, that creates a circular (hehe) logic that can’t work.

    Alternatively, (if you would look in a circle of radius 10px around [100,100] instead of inside of a box from 90,90 to 110,100):

    p = thisComp.layer("Shape Layer 1").transform.position;
    o = length(p,[100,100]) < 10 ? 50 : 100;

    // something like this:
    p = thisComp.layer("Shape Layer 1").transform.position;
    if ( (p[0]>=90 && p[0]<=110) || (p[1]>=90 && p[1]<=110) ) {
    o = 50;
    } else {
    o = 100;
    }
    o;

    something like this:

    sl=Math.floor(effects("Slider Control")("Slider").value) - 1;
    barColor = thisComp.layer("data-driven.csv")("Data")("Outline")("Primary")("Primary "+sl).toString();
    hexToRgb(barColor);
