  • Quality clip changes for a few seconds after export with AME

    Hello everybody,

I have a problem with the final result of my HD clip after rendering this with Adobe Media Encoder. A few seconds the quality of this clip suddenly changes into a worse quality than it should be.

If I look to the preview in After Effects, there is nothing wrong. If I render my clip in AME, the final result is what it should be except these few seconds.

If I create the video again with AME, the problem is still there, but not at the same moment as in the first export.

Do I render the video in AE, nothing is wrong, only it’s in avi format, instead of mp4, and the filesize is 60GB… instead of 110MB

If you look to the photo, the left part is from the first movie, the middel from the second and the part on the right is a few seconds befor the quality changes. This right part has the quality what is should be.

Anybody knows how I can solve this?

    Thank you

    Output settings AME:

    H.264
    Identical source
    High bitrate

It is simply a moment in the video where the MP4 compression algorithm doesn’t have enough bitrate to accurately describe the image, so it throws away information. It always odes that, but in these frames it’s not oding a very good job at choosing what.

Try manually encoding with a different bitrate, or a 2-pass encdoing, or use a different MP4 encoder like handbrake for example.

(And never render direcly to mp4 from After Effects/AME. Always render to an intermediate codec like for example quicktime ProRes first, then encode that ProRes to mp4)
