I can’t reproduce the bug in 6.5 on os X.

But it’s there in 5.5, Both the standard and the advanced renderers hav it at some point, the advanced not so fast, but it’s still there if you move close enough.

My guess is it has something to do with the image buffer, the closer you get, the larger AE has to pixelate it.
It has to store that pixelized version of the entire image somewhere, even if you’re only viewing one “parsec” of it.

Just my gut feeling though, I might be wrong.

Try it with a very tiny Illustrator file, and see if you can move closer to that before it dissapears.

If the key-plugin doesn’t provide it, there’s always the Channel->Invert effect that can invert the Alpha.

Or if you precompose the keyed layer, you can use a solid layer with the “set matte” -effect, it has an invert alpha switch built in.

A quick mock-up in Photoshop:

Duplicate the layer, set it’s transfer-mode to “Darken”
Add a Median filter and cranck up the radius untill the spot is filled with flesh-tones.

Create a mask, so all the other bright areas won’t be affected.

PS: I don’t know the guy, but he’s the coach for the bald eagles team, so he ranked up there with google image-search 😉

Quite possilby they just bought clips of cameraflashes, film burns etc. and edited them in;

You can fake some of them with levels, hue saturation, adding colored layers and noise ontop of your video, but it usually won’t have the organic and real feeling of the reel stuff

Hi, pretty ok modelling job so far;

here’s my critique:

I’d say his neck should be slightly longer and his shoulders and arms are a bit too buff, Oscar’s shoulders run down a bit, yours has shoulderpads.

The division-line between his ‘man-boobs’ go a little high up. The chest should be wider, but without increasing the width of the total model: what you add at the chest, loose at the arms.

Legs are a bit too long, feet to big and the hips vs. upper legs ratio is a bit too He-Man 😉

When you shorten the legs, keep the length of the sword so both his arms curve back UP towards the handle of the sword. Now his left arm curves down. The two hands should touch and melt into eachother.
The statuette really doesn’t have that musch detail that you ca

Face is ofcourse one of the hardest parts. I’d say understate the mouth more. And a taller forehead.

Foam works great, but evenso, here’s another suggestion, depending on the look you’re after, It might give you more control since you can substitute the little white dots with red bloodcells you create in photoshop:

Make sure the “auto orientation” of the camera is off and not set to “point of interest”.
If that’s on, you can’t rotate the camera around, it will always look at that point.
Alternatively, you can also animate the point of interest instead of the rotation
