i am really curious about the next release. People from Apple recently contacted me about an issue with PAL Canon AVCHD camcorders whose field dominance is interpreted wrong by FCP some people and I complained about in an Apple forum, so I think they’re working on some serious development. I’m already happy with the sw, even if I miss some features, so I’ll be more than happy with any improvement.

You are right, but the need to open a one year old FCP7 project and to export it on tape a couple of days ago while I were with an editor friend kind of helped digging out that horse :-). The intention of the post was not complaining, however, but instead of sharing a very positive editing experience with FCPX after a short time of learning on my position as a freelance editor and a content creator.

Yours looks like a good solution. I’ll try to see tomorrow if the render files are kept in case I switch the setting back to 1080i and to PAL SD anamorphic again the renfiles are kept. That would be nice if my client asks for some change.

I am not looking for a square pixel IMX, but for an anamorphic IMX coming from a Compressor setting that shows 16:9 when played. I already launched a post about the aspect ratio ( https://forums.creativecow.net/readpost/344/17979 ), I hope this is not cross-posting (this was more about exporting IMX in one step). So far, the channel I work for accepted the 16:9 IMX coming from FCPX. If I play that clip in QT, it’s no doubt 16:9, no letterboxing. I tried to send to compressor, and I only get a letterboxed image, or a 4:3 image that looks obviously compressed. I never got a 16:9 that plays and shows 16:9 as the one coming from FCPX, so I guess there’s something I am missing among the Compressor settings.

I guess I’ll continue sending them the IMX coming from FCPX, that’s already been accepted in the past, and maybe I’ll send them a short demo of the other I get from Compressor and see if they like it 🙂

If you select the whole clip the cross dissolve applies to both ends. If you click on the cut and press command-t the cross dissolve applies to the cut only.

I don’t know. The image I get exporting IMX 625/60 from FCPX sho6:9, just like the one I used to export from FCP7, shows 16:9in QT Player, FCP timeline, etc. The one I export from Compressor does not. The screenshots you added look like 4:3.

No, it seems to produce the same 4:3 file whatever pixel ratio I set. There must be something else. Have you tried it on your side?
