Basic Cross Dissolve question

This can be frustrating. There are a few ways to do this.

Change the opacity of the clip to do your fade instead of a cross dissolve.

Use a gap clip that’s just the right length.

Connect your second clip to the storyline as opposed to editing it right next to the dissolve.

Anyone have a better solution? I usually just use the opacity option.

Do you mean the end of the edited piece as in fade out or do you mean dip to black between clips. If it’s fade out then just click the end of the clip and hit command-t. If it’s fade to black between clips, use Fade To Color. Or do it manually as was suggested. But maybe I’m misunderstanding what you’re trying to do.

If you select the whole clip the cross dissolve applies to both ends. If you click on the cut and press command-t the cross dissolve applies to the cut only.
