  • Hi Eric, can you confirm you did updated your OS to Mavericks with your R380 ?
Do you also experience drive degradation or is it fine ?

  • Hi, there’s a post-house I know who owns a Mac Pro 4.1, and an ATTO R380 Raid card for its Sonnet Fusion R800 Raid.
I didn’t upgrade to Mavericks and FCP 10.1 there because I read on ATTO website that latest drivers for R380 only supported Mountain Lion.

So you are on Mavericks ? Do you get a warning with ATTO notification tool on startup ?

Don’t know if your problems come from storage or anything else.

On this Mac Pro (2×2,66 GHz Quad-Core, 32Go Ram, ATI Radeon 5770, OSX 10.8.5, FCPX 10.0.9, Blackmagic Decklink HD Extreme 3D, “homemade” Fusion Drive), I’ve got good performances, but nothing astonishing.
A slight delay when pressing Play, some occasional beachballs or crashes, but I can work (feature-length documentaries).

Did you turn off App Nap for FCPX ? ( Get info on FCPX app, then check disable app nap )

Also don’t forget to display the role column by right clicking in the columns headings in the timeline index

This way you can search and select by role right in the TL index.
(The Role Tab allows you to highlight selected role, but not select it)

    Hi Jacob,
Yes I often go past 2 gig with AAF.
In fact the last issues I encountered with this 2 gig limit were with OMF files a few years ago, and indeed I had to split my timeline.

I’ve never had this issue again since exporting AAF files.

Maybe this has something to do with ProTools version your audio post team is running ?

Freeze frame in FCPX came back with 10.0.6.
Just hold Option + F from a timeline clip or an event clip.

As I understood the OP, it’s about batch assigning differents roles to multichannels audio clips (boom, lav…),
    which is impossible right now.

A missing feature for now. You have to open every clip in its own timeline.
Batch assignment in audio inspector would be welcome…

I’ve been using X2Pro Audio Convert for several feature-length documentaries, and sound engineers were quite happy.
I’ve heard there’s a discount price for the light version.

Just checked, if you paste into viewer, it holds source formating (done in Pages).
If you paste into inspector, in Text tab, it holds destination formating (set up in your Motion template)

Even if you paste in the inspector rather than in viewer ?
