May 26, 2012 at 8:42 am in reply to: copy & paste video without having an effect on audio in new clipI’ve got another workaround for this :
I copy the source clip as connected clip (cmd-C, opt-V)
Then I reset all the parameters I don’t want to be pasted on the destination clip.
Now I can copy-paste this temporary source clip effects on the destination clip without affecting audio or other effects already applied.
In the end I delete the temporary copy of my source clip.It adds a few steps over selective attributes copy-paste, but not so much, only the temporary copy of the clip.
Resetting parameters that you don’t want is pretty much like selecting parameters you want. -
Well I just had to laugh

Glad to be useful Jeremy and David, please let me know if you want to know anything else.

And FYI, take a look at this feature request that I find very very very interesting.

Well, neither OMF or AAF with embedded audio exported with AD plugin opened in STP when I had tested it from FCPX 10.0.2…
But you can get a sample X2Pro AAF for testing on their forum :
https://x2pro.net/Media-and-Formats/60-Sample-AAF-created-by-X2Pro.htmlAuditions must be finalized first before exporting the XML to X2Pro.
A few others things good to know :
– For now, X2Pro exports audio with infinite handles. That means that all your audio source is exported. So AAF files can be pretty big. But they plan to add an option to consolidate audio files.
– Audio Roles in Final Cut Pro X are converted into Pro Tools tracks. The tracks in Pro Tools are named upon the role you assigned (track dialogue, track sfx, track french…)
– Multicam is perfectly supported.
– Compound clips are supported, but I haven’t tested it. -
Nope, same limitation about embedded AAF in STP.
( I had tested two OMF files from Automatic Duck plugin, one with embedded audio and one with externalized audio : STP only opened externalized one) -
It seems that Logic cannot handle embedded audio in an AAF.
Reading their forum, X2Pro guys plan to add an option for referenced audio with their AAF.For now, AAF files from X2Pro can be opened in ProTools and in Nuendo.

I don’t think so, but that would be a good thing.

I have to admit I felt in love with Timeline Index.
Sometimes I hear some fellows missing FCP7 selection arrows to select all clips after playhead.
Just open TL index, then… do it very easily :

And there is so much more to navigate/select/find clips in your timeline.
Show Roles/Notes/Activated Angle columns by right clicking in the headings, then you get this :

Everything you can see there is searchable. You want apply an effect only on clips with angle “CAM 2” activated ? Just type CAM 2 in search box :

And of course others tabs can show you markers, keywords, log notes…

And as you know allow you to “mute” selected roles (audio for example)

Sorry if everybody already knows that, but I find using it a lot, so this is my tip sharing.
