  • copy & paste video without having an effect on audio in new clip

Is there a way to copy a video effect and then paste it to another clip without effecting the new clip’s audio? For example, I want to copy a sepia effect from a clip where there is no sound, but when I copy and then paste the effect to another scene it turns the audio all the way down like in the scene from where I had copied the video effect??

I’m afraid not. It’s paste all effects. Probably easiest to paste the color effects and then fix the audio. You can select multiple clips and set all the levels at the same time.

    All the best,

I’ve got another workaround for this :
I copy the source clip as connected clip (cmd-C, opt-V)
Then I reset all the parameters I don’t want to be pasted on the destination clip.
Now I can copy-paste this temporary source clip effects on the destination clip without affecting audio or other effects already applied.
In the end I delete the temporary copy of my source clip.

It adds a few steps over selective attributes copy-paste, but not so much, only the temporary copy of the clip.
Resetting parameters that you don’t want is pretty much like selecting parameters you want.

Try Total Adjustment: https://itunes.apple.com/app/total-adjustment-for-final/id482883336?mt=12 . You apply your effects to the adjustment layer (it looks like a title in the timeline) and connect it directly over the clip you want to apply the effect to. You can then just copy the adjustment layer and connect it to another clip.
