In cases like yours my tool of last resort is always Adobe Media Encoder CS5. If it couldn’t transcode media into editable format I’d throw away that file and ask the folk I got it from to reencode it for me with fcp requirements in mind.

Don’t worry about the size since youtube has three different bandwidths for your clip. 1.2 GB you mentioned is source for them from which they convert. Even in HD mode you’d get less bandwidth than you’d uploaded. You should worry about the quality and leave everything else to youtube to deal with.

Did you empty trash bin before starting the application? I know I’m missing something in your case. Could you please provide me with following info: clip’s properties (command +9) and sequence settings (command +0). It’d be nice if you were able to make screenshots.

Nope. If you trash exact files I pointed to, you’d do no harm to any project. These are cache files for FCP. After deletion it’d be as if you opened application first time – you face a welcome window with easy set-up presets. Trashing pref files helps when something abnormal is happening.

I assume there is nothing wrong with your footage and it’s 1920 by 1080 as you stated. Then go to your Home directory then inside it to: Library > Preferences
Drag com.apple.FinalCutPro.plist to the trash
Scroll down to the Final Cut Pro User Data folder
Drag Final Cut Pro 7.0 Prefs to the trash
Drag Final Cut Pro Obj Cache to the trash
Drag Final Cut Pro Prof Cache to the trash
Empty the trash
Open new project, import your footage and add clip to a sequence. Check sequence settings.Everest Mokaeff
