    David,
your problem is that you should’ve done it the other way around. I suppose DPX is not your original camera raw footage. What was it? Was it film? In this case you work with telecine proxy. Was it RED/Alexa or the like? They all have their own well documented DI-to-Film workflows. DPX is something you don’t want to work with until after the final cut is locked.
My advice is try to use original media (raw camera footage) to generate proxy files for editing.

Google is a powerful tool if you know how to use it.

There is no problem for editor to handle as many as 16 to 22 tracks of audio. That’s from my own practice. Before you start editing your footage you must sync all external audio tracks. Usually they have the same time code and reel numbers as the footage from camera which makes syncing pretty easy. In case of DSLR that’s a little problem which will require more time to sync. Syncing means linking audio and video. Never put syncing off until after the final cut is done. This is a bad way because you’ll lose to it three to four times more energy.

100 % agree with that. I just tried to say that it’s not that bad if you messed up a little bit. You still can return to where you stood at the beginning without re-installing mac os from scratch. Certainly it requires some level of diligence and expertise both dealing with OS and FCS.

    Thanks David,
for me it was quite reasonable risk to run. I wanted to push things a little bit around to see if things would change with updates installed. They changed. To restore and update FCS3 took me about seven minutes, though, I skipped Soundtrack Pro content)))

Yes, it’s out there for long time. Unlike FCPx Lion is not that big secret on developer’s stage.

Yes it’s being installed from within 10.6.8. I didn’t try “clean” installation from bootable disk/partition. I guess it’s pretty easy – just make a proper copy of your Lion as you did with any other previous version of mac os.

Personally, I find it very satisfying not to have installation disk every time. I test the system since their developer release ver 3. As to FCS3 including third party components everything works fine. Though I would refrain to recommend use it in production yet. It’s too early. BTW, yes indeed you have clean install version you can restore from. (If anybody could tell me how to turn off automatic proofreading in Safari 5.1 on mac os 10.7 I’d appreciate it. )
