FCP7 and FCPX on Mac OS 10.7 LION is bad idea
Posted by Everest Mokaeff on July 5, 2011 at 3:58 pmJust to confirm what was reiterated all over this forum: FCS3 can’t sit well on Mac OS 10.7 Lion if FCPx, or Motion 5, or Compressor 4 installed altogether. After installing additional content for FCPx and Motion, I got Compressor 3.5.3 and Motion 4.0.3 not functioning either as stand-alone applications (generate system compatibility error) or as parts of FCP7 round-trips workflows. Remedy: use fcs remover and manually get rid of FCPx/Motion 5/Compressor 4 stuff. Reinstall FCS3 from disks and update.
Hope, it’ll do.Sony PMW-EX3, Canon Mark II 5D, FCS3 in Moscow

July 5, 2011 at 4:13 pmOr, you could have taken my advice/warning from my tutorial (published well in advance of the June 21 roll out) and installed FCP X, Motion 5, and Compressor 4 on a separate partition, which would have prevented these issues and saved you lots of extra work.
Here’s the tutorial in case you missed it:

July 5, 2011 at 4:30 pmYes, it’s out there for long time. Unlike FCPx Lion is not that big secret on developer’s stage.

July 5, 2011 at 4:33 pmThanks David,
for me it was quite reasonable risk to run. I wanted to push things a little bit around to see if things would change with updates installed. They changed. To restore and update FCS3 took me about seven minutes, though, I skipped Soundtrack Pro content)))Sony PMW-EX3, Canon Mark II 5D, FCS3 in Moscow

July 5, 2011 at 4:35 pmI just need to keep reminding people here for obvious reasons Everest.
I’d rather try to help Cows avoid these issues altogether, because helping them to fix these problems after the fact can be exponentially more complicated.

July 5, 2011 at 4:45 pm100 % agree with that. I just tried to say that it’s not that bad if you messed up a little bit. You still can return to where you stood at the beginning without re-installing mac os from scratch. Certainly it requires some level of diligence and expertise both dealing with OS and FCS.

I did. I will repeat my question. Do you know this because you have installed Lion, which is not yet released?
