Could be problematic for some if not many.

July 4, 2011 at 1:45 pmThe ancient OS-X-native Internet Explorer 5.5 will no longer run, either
Oh no! 🙂
The only really issue I find with Lion is the download > install scheme. They should offer a download > disc image scheme I’d say. Other than that I understand they want to cut off all the old code. Most people that require things like Rosetta will most likely survive staying in MacOSX 10.6.

There’s an image file hidden in the installer package. It can be restored onto a drive (or, I suppose, burned to an actual disc) at which point you have a bootable installer like you’d have had for any other version of OS X.

July 4, 2011 at 3:03 pmI have read the installer actually creates a mini emergency boot partition on your drive, from which you can reinstall the OS, if necessary. You can create a disc image of this partition on a DVD or USB drive, too. No copy protection.

July 4, 2011 at 5:44 pmPersonally, I find it very satisfying not to have installation disk every time. I test the system since their developer release ver 3. As to FCS3 including third party components everything works fine. Though I would refrain to recommend use it in production yet. It’s too early. BTW, yes indeed you have clean install version you can restore from. (If anybody could tell me how to turn off automatic proofreading in Safari 5.1 on mac os 10.7 I’d appreciate it. )

July 5, 2011 at 8:55 amI thought Lion would require the system to have 10.6.8 installed, or is that old intel? If not, this system is fine / great.

July 5, 2011 at 1:09 pmYes it’s being installed from within 10.6.8. I didn’t try “clean” installation from bootable disk/partition. I guess it’s pretty easy – just make a proper copy of your Lion as you did with any other previous version of mac os.
