What is your question? Unlike DVD Blu Ray is very versatile format capable of dealing with wide range of frame rates, resolutions and bit rates. Mov. is not compatible with Blu Ray format unless your film festival explicitly specify so. For Blu Ray you encode in MPEG-2 or H.264.
Audio level normalized means that your sound should be consistent at the level of -12 dB throughout the clip.

If by upgrade you mean update it’s available through software update function of Mac OS.

What about Preview? May be Photoshop or whatever editor you prefer. 720×405 means cropped picture.

My guess is you never used this, (any?) camera before. What worked good for some guy with particular sharpness and gain would not necessarily work the same way for you. If you don’t understand how to use it and in what circumstances simply stick to default mode.
Yes, in fcp capture footage as HDV, drag and drop it time line and conform sequence to clip settings. After you’re done with editing change sequence settings (command 0): change compressor to ProRes and export your movie.

If you had only one angle you’re gonna have jump cuts every time you edit some material out. If you decided on having this stylistic approach I see no reason to sweat it. Though, in my opinion, it’s always good to have enough coverage.

    BTW, why duplicate posts.

  • Typo aside, you need 8 pin to 6 pin FireWire adapter to plug your camera. You can’t plug it through another device.

  • Convert all footage regardless of container to ProRes and edit it. H.264 for delivery only.

If I’m not wrong this is HDV camera (mini DV tape). I’m not sure why you set up sharpness to +3 or what in your opinion constitutes low light conditions to use +6 gain. In your case progressive scan has to do with the way cmos works. On tape footage will be interlaced anyways. Though in my opinion progressive scan yields smoother picture.
You should not worry about sequence settings – let fcp conform it to your footage. Captured footage will be HDV 1080 50i(60i) depending on your tv standard.

100% agree with Chris. I too was a part of beta and watched the Lion grew up. I don’t want to run down the list debunking every item I think aforementioned article got wrong. Lion is faster and robuster OS than all it’s predecessors. My personal satisfaction is what you can do with your magic mouse – gestures feature works great.
