Jeremy, tried that as I changed the Frame controls to Progressive and not auto. No dice.

There has to be something about when it’s coming into DVDSP. All the files look fine when watched on my mac monitors. It’s just when it get’s to the DVD that it’s weird. (I’ve enve tried different DVD players and the HD versions look bad.

Could it be something with using a DVCProHD 720p60 timeline with 30 fps material?

Chris, I’m getting the exact opposite. When I drag my HD timeline into an SD timeline, then export, it looks much better that exporting directly to Compressor.

I’m trying to save the HD-to SD timeline time factor.

Thanks for your post. I am judging the results as my client will see them, off a DVD in a standalone DVD player. By your test, they should all same on the same monitor/player. But, they don’t. The HD-Compressor-DVDSP looks bad, the HD-to-SD-Compressor-DVDSP looks fine. There’s something going on in the HD-to-Compressor version.

Just tried a test that setting and it still has some aliasing. The best looking DVD’s still come from dropping my HD timeline into an SD timeline.

Any other ideas or different work flows you guys are using?

  • Why are you guys so high on this monitor? There’s no HD-SDI inputs?

    Go to this link.

Except, I can’t get the driver to work. Can anyone explain why? I down-loaded and installed the driver but, I don’t get the P2 listing on the File-Import menu?

    Mark,

How do you record both FS and tape at the same time? Can you set it up so you just hit the cameras record button and both start rolling?

Here’s a great tutorial that might help with some tips about bitrate and audio.

    https://www.kenstone.net/fcp_homepage/compressor2_custom_presets.html

Export out of FCP as a QT movie reference file (not self-contained). Then import that into Compressor, it’s much faster than exporting directly to Compressor. (Don’t ask, nobody seems to know why) Plus, it lets you continue to work in FCP while compressor is running in the background.

Question, when you play back one the tape in the camera, does it still sound fine with your headsets? If so, then the tape is OK, but you have some other issue in the digitizing process.
